Analysis and Comparison of the Corrosive Behavior of Nickel-Based and Cobalt-Based Dental Alloys

Nickel-based and cobalt-based metal alloys are frequently used in dentistry. The introduction of various elements the alloy changes its characteristics, a thorough study each should be completed to determine appropriate corrosion resistance biocompatibility contact with physiological fluids. There scarce investigations on these widely dental Ringer solution, findings this research bring new experimental data information. present evaluated compared behavior six NiCr- two CoCr-based materials using following techniques: potentiostatic polarization curves (chronoamperometry), microstructural analysis, EIS (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy). results obtained investigation showed that NiCr-based specimens Ni4, Ni5, Ni6 stability passive layer was destroyed after development growth stable pits found analysis electrochemical treatment.
